Students of Rajalakshmi Engineering College won the first stage of the DRDO Golden Jubilee Celebration Student Competition. Their project entitled "Deployable Low Cost Outdoor Surveillance System With Remote Access to Sensor Imagery" has won a cash award of Rs.50,000/- and REC is the one of the 10 Institutions in the Country to be selected for this honour. The team comprises of

The Phase – II of the contest was held in Kolar, Karnataka from June 8th to 10th 2009. All the 10 teams which were selected in the first phase participated. Our Rajalakshmi Engineering College secured 4th position and won accolades from all members of the Panel of Jury for the design of the project. In appreciation of this innovative design, 4 members of the team have been offered placements by the DRDO and National Aerospace Laboratory, Bangalore. One of the team members has already been granted admission by University of Bath, UK, with financial support for his studies and continue the R & D work with an allocation of 6,000 Pounds. The prize winners were appreciated by the Management, Principal and Faculty Members for their outstanding achievement.
