ABOUT THE INSTITUTION

Rajalakshmi Engineering College, an autonomous institution affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, was established in the year 1997 under the aegis of Rajalakshmi Educational Trust, whose members have had consummate experience in the fields of education and industry. The College has grown from strength to strength in the last 25 years and presently 18 Under Graduate and 9 Post Graduate programmes are offered, with an annual Intake of more than 2000 students. 9 of our Departments are recognized as Research Centres of Anna University to conduct Ph.D. programmes and many scholars have obtained Ph.D. degree through these research centres. All the eligible programmes are accredited by NBA and the college is accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade. There are 15 Centres of Excellence in the college actively engaged in Research and consultancy activities in emerging areas. All these achievements have resulted in REC securing 95th rank in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of MHRD.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in the year 1999-2000. Presently, the department offers B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering with an intake of 120 students and M.E. Embedded systems Technologies with an intake of 18 students. It has also been recognized as a research centre by Anna University, Chennai, leading to Ph.D. degree. A number of candidates have obtained Ph.D. through this centre. There are three Centres of Excellence, viz., Renewable Energy Systems, Embedded System Technologies and Electric vehicles. The department has full-fledged faculty members who are dedicated and well- experienced in different fields of specializations and all the laboratories of the department are fully equipped with latest systems, apparatus and software tools. A large number of research papers have been published by the faculty members in reputed journals in the area of Power Systems, Power Electronics, Control Systems, Renewable Energy Systems and related areas. The department has been reaccredited by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi (NBA). The mission of the department is to produce highly competent Electrical and Electronics Engineers with a sound knowledge in all the areas concerning the discipline.
