TOP ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT
10 UG students & 5 PG students have secured UNIVERSITY RANKS in the Anna University Examinations in 2012 & 2013.
An International Conference on "Power Electronics Renewable Energy Systems" (ICPERES -2014) was organised by Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering on April 25 & 26, 2014. A total of 125 technical papers in various energy related areas were presented by research scholars.
Two weeks ISTE workshop was conducted through video conferencing on "Signals and Systems" under National Mission on Education through ICT (MHRD, Govt of India) during January 02 - 12, 2014.
YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD
Dr. R. Kalaivani, Professor, EEE was given "Young Investigator Award" for her paper "Application of Hybrid PSOGA for Optimal Location of SVC to Improve Voltage Stability of the Power System", presented in the International Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ICEEE -2012) held at Mysore on 5th August 2012.
The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department organised a three day National Franchisee Training Programme on "Electricity Distribution Franchisee" for Final year EEE students on 17, 18 & 19th February 2011. The Thermal Institute, under HRD wing of TANGEDCO (formerly TNEB) conducted this training program.
Dr. M. Subbiah, Professor has been granted in 2009, a patent for his invention "A new four-stage power controller for improved energy efficiency and saving in reactive power for three-phase induction motors and wind-driven grid-connected induction generators".
IET BEST OUTGOING STUDENT AWARD Mr. R. Aravind Raj of 2009 passed out batch secured "Best outgoing student" award for the year 2008 at IET - Younger Member Section Chennai (IET-YMSC).
ALL INDIA DESIGN COMPETITION 2008-09
Mr. S. Kathirmani and Mr. Anup Mohan of 2009 passed out batch have secured National Award in 2008 from Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), for their project "Fabrication of Electric Bi-cycle".
DRDO GOLDEN JUBILEE STUDENT COMPETITION 2008-09
Ms. V. Radhika of 2009 passed out batch, with her team members from Aero, CSE and IT departments have completed phase-I of Micro Air Vehicle project DE-SS106 (Deployable Surveillance System) in the DRDO Golden Jubilee Student Competition 2008-09. This project has been selected as ONE of the TOP 10 projects in the country, out of 209 entries in the competition.
