VISION and MISSION of the Department(UG &PG)

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, which was started in 1997, provides both undergraduate and post graduate studies. Anna University has recognized it as a research centre for its collaborative research programme that leads to a Ph.D. by research. The NBA has re-accredited the department. It has well-trained faculty with a mix of industrial and academic experience. The department is actively involved in research and consultancy work funded by a variety of funding sources, including DST, UGC, AICTE, GTRE, ISHRAE and others. Faculty and students are actively involved in patent publication. The department's faculty members hold doctorates in a variety of fields and are also qualified for research guidance from Anna University. Around 20 scholars have received their Ph.D from the mechanical research centre, and more than 30 are now pursuing their studies. The faculty and students are also actively engaged in innovative projects, presenting papers in conferences, publishing journal papers and patents.

The department is approved as a RESEARCH CENTER by ANNA UNIVERSITY for doing M.S and Doctoral programs.

2004-Accredited by NBA
2006-Regonised by Anna university as center for research studies (Ph.D.)
2007-Reaccredited by NBA and REC-Institution was accredited by NAAC
2010-Received University rank of 27 th position in UG.
2012-Reached to second (2 nd ) position by AICTE-CII survey. Received University rank of 20th position in UG.
2013-Reaccreditation by NBA again (for 3 years) & REC received NAAC. Received University rank in 37th position in UG
2014-Received Three University ranks of (11 th, 27 th,40 th) positions in UG
2015-Received Two University ranks of (8 th, 36th ) positions in UG and one University rank of twenty fourth (24 th) position from PG.
2016- NBA Extensions for one year (upto June 2017) and NAAC Accredited with “A” Grade on 4 points scale for 5 years from May 2016.Received Three University rank of (2 nd ,31 st,42nd) positions in UG
2017-Attained an Autonomous status by Anna University. Received Three university ranks of (2nd ,31st,42nd) position in UG.
2018- Received University rank of 20th position for the batch of 2015-2019
2020- Received Two University ranks of (20 th,23 rd) positions in UG.

THE DEPARTMENT- Post Graduation-M.E.(Engineering Design) 2004 - P.G.programme-M.E.CAD/CAM-was started.
2011 - P.G. Programme –M.E, Engineering Design was started
2012 - Received University First (1 st ) rank in PG.
2013 - Received University Seventh (7 th ) rank in PG
2014 - Received University rank of fourteen (14 th) position in PG
2016 - Received Two university ranks of (5th,13th) position in PG
2017 - Attained an Autonomous status by Anna University. R2017 syllabus was framed.
2018 - R2017-Autonomous Syllabus is framed.
2019 - R2019 - Autonomous Syllabus is framed.
2020 - updated syllabus is in Teaching & Learning process.
