IBM CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE
The department is credited with IBM Software Centre for Excellence and the lab is set for the same. We are also attributed to conduct International certifications by IBM trained faculty members.

The Department has so far produced 36 UNIVERSITY RANK holders since 2012.

R & D

The department has received the funding of rupees 1.2 crores from various funding agencies like DST, AICTE, UGC, CSI since 2014. The department has two special labs namely Assistive Technology Lab and Big Data Analytics Lab.
Dr. S. Poonkuzhali received recommendations for the project “e-TLSID: a tool to enrich livelihood skills for people who are intellectually disabled” from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India under TIDE programme.
Received AICTE Seminar grant of Rs.1 lakh for organizing two days seminar on "Internet of Things Solving Global Issues- Climate , Education, Poverty & Terrorism".
Dr.S.Poonkuzhali has received funding for the project "Interactive Teaching Aid for Autistic Children(ITAAC)" under DST of worth 41.66 lakhs.
Dr.S.Poonkuzhali and Ms.J.Jeyalakshmi has received funding for the project "Efficient Prediction and Monitoring Tool for Diabetes Patients using Data Mining and Smart Phone System" under AICTE – Research Proposal SchemeScheme - Amount 4.70 Lakhs.
Dr. R.Kumar has received funding for the project "A Visualization Framework to Enhance the Learning of Hearing Impaired Children" under CSRI-DST of worth 28.56 lakhs.
Dr.S.Poonkuzhali, Dr.L.Priya and Mr.G.Rajeshkannan have been working on Innovation & Incubation cell at REC along with Third Year and Final Year IT students and developed a real time medical application named "Tele-radiology software" has been designed and developed for Sentinel Radiology Solutions.

EVENTS ORGANIZED

Design Thinking Challenge’18 was organized by Departments of IT and ECE on September 1, 2018. The chief guest for the event was Dr.S.R.Ramanan, Advisor Metrological department, Chennai and Mr. P.Deepak, Circle head, Huawei communication Pvt Ltd, Chennai. It was a National level event where students from other colleges including students from other states participated. Prizes were given in 4 different criteria.

Innovision - an event organized every year, is an essence to scrutinize perception .It is an portal for the enlivening brain to showcase their high-tech and technological anecdote or voice- over. This manifestation has been made achievable and desirable. Only because of efforts and involvement fruitage by the young talented minds and the collateral, buoyant faculty members.
