Introduction

Established in 2005, the Department of Aeronautical Engineering offers a 4-year B.E. programme with an intake of 60 students, shaping future leaders in aviation, aerospace, and emerging technologies.

Our programme blends core aeronautical disciplines—structural mechanics, aerodynamics, propulsion, and space dynamics - with cutting-edge applications in aircraft engineering, drones, rockets, and space technology. Students also gain strong foundations in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and humanities, ensuring a well-rounded engineering education.

Hands-on learning is at the heart of our approach. The department houses state-of-the-art laboratories including:

  • Aircraft Propulsion Lab
  • Aerodynamics Lab
  • Aircraft Structures Lab
  • Aircraft Simulation Lab
  • Design, Modelling & Analysis Lab
  • High-Speed Jet Lab

These facilities support both academic learning and advanced research. Computational skills are developed through programming, simulation and industry-standard engineering software.

We maintain strong industry and research collaborations with organizations like NAL and ISRO, enabling students and faculty to engage with real-world aerospace challenges. Final-year students undertake year-long, industry-relevant projects, often supported by leading MNCs and defence laboratories, meeting the high standards of modern aerospace engineering.

Career Pathways

Graduates find opportunities in civil aviation, defence R&D, space research, CSIR laboratories and software industries specializing in engineering tools. Many also excel in management, civil services, higher education, and research at M.Tech and Ph.D. levels.

Postgraduate Programme - M.E. Avionics

Launched in 2018, the M.E. Avionics programme equips students with expertise in integrating avionics subsystems, cockpit systems, and next-gen aerospace technologies. With a strong focus on drone technology, AI integration, and advanced flight systems, the programme aligns with global aviation standards and industry demands.

Career Opportunities

M.E. Avionics graduates are in demand with DRDO, ISRO, ADE, CVRDE and leading companies like Honeywell, GE, and Data Patterns. They are also sought after in engineering software development and the rapidly expanding drone industry, including roles as certified Drone RC pilots for civil and military applications. The programme also fosters an entrepreneurial mindset, encouraging ventures in unmanned aerial systems and aerospace innovation.
